Engineer - Internship

THE ROLEOF THE CIVIL ENGINEER INTERNSHIP:
This is a seasonal/temporary entry-level position with potential to gain a full-time employment offer. We desire team-oriented people who foster a positive work atmosphere, are collaborative partners and strive toward getting projects accomplished on time and on budget.
This position reports directly to a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and will:
- Participatein a 12-week hands-on rotation program gaining experience in a wide variety of civil engineering disciplines including land survey, transportation, water, wastewater, drainage, site design, and construction management.
- Assist in project surveying, data processing and analysis, creation of construction drawings and specifications for projects involving municipal infrastructure and site and/or land development.
- Display excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and with a team.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate in the development of plans and profile sheets for engineering projects.
- Evaluate project specifications, contracts, and bonds, and contribute to on-site inspections.
- Conduct calculations pertaining to roadway surfacing.
- Modify standard cross-sectional designs.
- Address and incorporate feedback and revisions into plans.
- Complete requested forms and permits accurately.
REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate must be pursuing a Civil, Environmental or Biosystems Engineering degree from an ABET accredited University and be within two years of anticipated graduation date, and:
- Seek hands-on learning in various civil engineering disciplines like transportation, water, wastewater, drainage, and bridges.
- Possess technical understanding of engineering systems, materials, and procedures.
- Passed or scheduled to take the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.
- Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Show autonomy and teamwork proficiency with diverse professional levels.
- Display keen attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills, eagerness to learn through questions.
- Prioritize tasks, delegate when suitable.
- Aim to achieve a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Proficient inMicrosoft Office Suite.
- Preferably skilled in Autodesk Civil 3D, MicroStation, and/or OpenRoads.
- Hold a valid Oklahoma Driver’s license.
Successful candidates for this position will be required to undergo pre-employment drug testing in accordance with the safety sensitive company policy.
